And, it’s warm enough to eat outside without a heavy coat. But if you’d prefer to stay inside, you can still enjoy the outside just enough by walking to your car if you go downtown to Glenwood South. One of my favorite lunch places down there is The Rockford. You may not know the restaurant name but you might know its location – 320 and ½ Street. It’s next to a hair salon in case you miss the entrance which is just a blue door with the number 320 ½ written above it. The Rockford Restaurant is upstairs. I dunno, if I were the owners I’d just call it 320 and ½ Restaurant. It’d be easier to find…and more memorable. And they haven’t moved since I’ve been in Raleigh. Anyway…

Once you make it up to the second floor (which may have been an attic for nearby stores at one point)…then you’re up in the restaurant. There’s a bar which makes you think the place is bigger than it would be without it. The food is really, really good here. It’s mostly all gourmet type sandwiches but there are small plates served at dinner too. Yes… they’re open 7 days a week for dinner and 6 days for lunch. And if you have vegetarian friends, they have some options on the menu. Like the Samosa Burrito with cabbage, peas, onions, potatoes, carrots, MJ cheese, and cilantro lime rice served with an Asian slaw and Mango Chutney. Sounds like an interesting blend. But I’m a carnivore so I usually order something with meat for my protein. If you try it or know anyone who does, lemme know how it is…will you?
