Raleigh Fast Food Burger

If you want a quick burger and a good burger without waiting through a long drive thru during lunch and dinner… then Backyard Burger is your place. A Backyard Burger reminds me of an In and Out Burger (big on the west coast) where it’s never dripping with sauces like a Burger King burger. I dunno you might like that, but I think less is more. Besides I can add all that to liking, later. At Backyard Burger, my fav’rite and what I almost always order is the Mushroom Swiss Burger. It’s comfort food! Their cheeseburgers are great too but when you have a gourmet burger like mushroom swiss…well, it’s like this…why go for the basic car when you can have the souped up version for the same price?

If you make a meal out of it, it comes with a soft drink and either steak or waffle fries. I’ve been laying off the fries lately if you couldn’t gather from some of my other blog posts. Once you get fries on your plates, it’s hard to stop. Though occasionally when I do break down, I order the steak fries. At the end of the burger meal, I like to end with a fry. I’m funny that way.
But…just a little fry inside tip…the waffle or steak fries are just as good. Steak fries are crunchier if you’re in the mood for that.

Getting off the fry topic…they also have chicken sandwiches as a healthy alternative. My one complaint about all their sandwiches is the bread. It’s not really soggy…it’s just not as toasty as I’d like. So if I get to bring it home, I always toast it a ‘lil bit. You can do that since it comes without mayo, mustard, or ketchup already on it. You can order extra pickles too. That’s Eric’s fav’rite. I have a ‘lil calorie trick too without missing out. I do what Oprah does. She only eats half the bread. I just throw away half the bun and eat it like you would a plain English Muffin in the morning.

Oh, and they have milkshakes there. One that I splurge on once in awhile is the Oreo Cookie shake. Don’t tell me how many calories there are in there. Anything with cookie gets my attention!

The drive thru off Leesville is never packed. You never have to wait more than a minute or two at the most. Trust me, I’ve driven through there many times. They’re just very efficient. And I think they’re location is off the beaten path so they don’t get long lines like Chick-Fil-A and Mickey D’s on Glenwood. But they’re busy enough. They seem to have a decent flow of customers drive through. Plus, a lot of people go inside.

9 out of 10 times you’ll pay at the first cashier window, to… I think his name is Ed. You’d totally remember him. He’s a very chipper man and he always takes your money with an enthusiastic smile. And he says very animated, “We at Back-yard Burger reallllly appreciate your business. YOU have a GREAT day!”. You can’t forget him. I’d show you a photo of Ed but he was out last time I was there. He was in Hawaii I think visiting his brother. But I’ll get a photo of him and show you what he looks like.
